Abstract :

The world as it continuously evolves is undeniably characterized by diversity within all sectors and facets of life. Individuals and indeed groups from all walks of life inevitably view life not from the same lens, which aspect borrows significantly from John Locke who asserts that, individuals possess natural rights to life, liberty and property. The differences that characterize the viewpoints between and among individuals at times create conflicts, some of them having damaging consequences. In his wisdom, God made each individual unique. This was not a mistake but meant to provide the other viewpoint to life as people engage to create a functional balance from their diversities. In life, the other viewpoint is always critical to foster stability, progress and continuous improvement of processes and systems. If however, the diversity is not embraced positively there will be back biting, back stabbing and witch hunting which are weevils that may not support progress and purposefulness within settings. The State as an actor within the broader governance ecosystem is expected to be guarantor and protector of civil liberties though there are views that also look at it as a potential violator (Singha et al, 2024).
