KR Meera’s The Unseeing Idol of Light: A Psychological Perspective

Abstract :

Indian Literature in regional languages is a store house of knowledge and wisdom. It has a long literary tradition. Literature written in Sanskrit and Prakrit languages is considered to be the earliest literary productions. Now a day, literature in translation has got global recognition. There are many male and female writers producing regional literature. KR Meera, a Malayalam novelist, is an outstanding literary figure. She has produced many novels in Malayalam which have translated in different languages. Her The Unseeing Idol of Lightis a classical literary production that deals with many issues concerning human life. It is a social discourse at the same time it deals with human relation. The objective of this research article is to explore mind and behavior of characters in the novel from psychoanalytical perspective. Fundamentally, it incorporates psychological dimensions. It focuses memory, nostalgia, hysteria, stress, mental disharmony and disorder. This research article looks at the novel from a psychological point of view.
