A Study on Humanism and Islamic Ethics

Author : Dr. Ruhul Amin and Hazrat Ali

Abstract :

Humanism is a philosophy that emphasizes the dignity, worth, and well-being of each person. It promotes compassion, justice, equality, and respect for human rights. Islamic ethics, based on the Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, also emphasizes moral values that promote social harmony, such as justice, honesty, charity, compassion, and care for others.
This study argues that Islamic teachings closely match humanistic values. It examines how humanitarian ideals in Islam protect human dignity, promote social justice, and prioritize the well-being of the community. Examples like charity (Zakat and Sadaqah), kindness, and equality show the strong humanistic side of Islamic morality.
The study uses secondary sources like books, academic journals, and articles on humanism and Islamic ethics. The findings show that Islamic ethics supports many universal humanistic values and helps build a fair and caring society. This suggests a strong moral base for promoting human welfare, peaceful living, and ethical relationships today.
