Qualitative Phytochemical Analysis of Different Leafy Wild Vegetables from Chandgad Tehsil, Dist. Kolhapur (Maharashtra)

Abstract :
The objective of present study is to identify the leafy vegetables traditionally utilized by local communities, in all season who reside at the rural areas of Chandgad Tahashil of Maharashtra region. The study conducted in this respect to analyze four leafy vegetables from study region at winter. The result of phytochemical analysis of Amarnath roxburghianus (Tandli), Hibiscus Cannabinus (Ambadi), Amaranthus Cruentus (Rajgira), & launaea procumbens (Pathri) revealed the Phenols, Alkaloids, Steriodes, Tannis, Saponin, Flavonoid, Carbohydrate and protein were present in almost all the four plant species which was confirmed by water, acetone & ethanol solvents. However, Hibiscus Cannabinus and launaea procumbens show an absence of Saponin in acetone extract only. The obtained result in present study suggested that the identified phytochemical compounds may be bio-active constituent and these plants are proving to be valuable reservoir of active compounds so used for medicinal and ethano-botanical aspect.
