A Clinical Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Asthapan Basti, Indrayava Kwatha and Indrayava Tailam in the Management of Ek Kushtha W.S.R. to Psoriasis

Abstract :
Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes a rash with itchy, scaly patches. Psoriasis is a common disease, it can be painful, interfere with sleep and make it hard to concentrate. The disease Psoriasis is correlated with Ek Kushtha due to its maximum resemblance with it. According to Charaka and also Vagbhatta the predominance Dosha in Ek Kushtha are Vata & Kapha whereas Sushruta mentioned the disease with Kapha predominancy.
For this case, for Shodhana Daruharidradi Asthapana Basti, Indrayava Tailam for local application and as oral treatment Indrayava Kwatha, (which has Katu, Tikta Ras, Sheeta Veerya, Katu Veepak). It has been used as a good remedy in Siddha System of medicine for Skin ailment. However, it is mainly used for Digestive disorder in Ayurveda. Basti has been glorified as the definitive therapy to treat the vitiated Vata and Vatapradhana Vyadhis (AS. Su. 28/12). Basti removes Mala, Pitta, and Kapha and does Vatanulomana to relieve the disorders situated in all over the body. Basti performs various actions such as Samshodhana, Samshamana, Samgrahana, Vajeekarana, Brumhana, Karshana, Chakshushya, and Vayahsthapana. Basti is “Param Vatahara,”
The therapy provided marked relief in scaling, itching and dryness as well as in burning. Based on the case study, it can be concluded that Daruharidradi Asthapana Basti with Indrayava Kashayam and Indrayava Tailam is effective in the management of Ek Kushtha (Psoriasis).
