An Overview of Assam’s Agriculture Export Potential with its ASEAN Countries

Abstract :
It is very important to study the trade problems and prospects of the North Eastern States of India in general and the state of Assam in particular with the neighbouring ASEAN countries. The NESs are small and underdeveloped states which have a long way to go in economic development and trade. The states have factor endowments and skills, immense economic and trade value of geography and ecology of the states, strategic importance of the states, which are quite amenable to trade and be further developed and promoted for the purpose of exports and create an international/ASEAN trade image of the NER. But, while the prospects of NE-ASEAN trade are good, the problem to develop them are also quite formidable. They have to create a new economic geography for the purpose of trade. The NE trade model is to be eco and people friendly to strike a new NE stance on development and trade. With this background here in this paper an attempt has been made to study about Assam’s Agriculture Export Potential with ASEAN countries.
