Teacher Readiness and Implementation Challenges of NEP 2020: A Survey-Based Study
Author : Dr. Twinkle Sanghavi
Abstract :
The New Education Policy (2020) represents a significant shift that aims to enhance and transform the Indian education system through more flexible and blended approaches. The policy allows for making learning fairer, open to all, and complete. NEP 2020 mainly works towards building modern skills like thinking deeply and being creative in problem-solving. Though teachers will directly follow and use such policies, as they have an important role to play in making their goals successful. The present research work aims to find out how well teachers understand NEP 2020 and their readiness, why their implementation is necessary to make the education better, as well as challenges during their implementation to use the policy in the right way. The results indicated that even though many teachers know a little about the NEP 2020, despite its implementation, only a few know how to use it in daily teaching. There is still a strong need for training programs to help teachers better understand NEP. Should focus on using books and digital tools and technologies, mixed-subject learning, and skill-based education, which uses technology in classrooms. Important steps include spreading awareness, providing proper training and support to teachers by solving problems in schools and addressing students' needs to be included to help in the successful implementation of NEP. A study survey was conducted among 200 teachers to know their readiness and implementation challenges of NEP 2020. The study concludes that teachers' readiness is significantly important for the implementation of NEP.
