Abstract :
In Ayurveda “Vrikka Vikara” is a disease affecting Mutravaha Srotas. Vitiation of “Vat” dosha is responsible for impairment of Vrikka functions, whereas “Kapha” dosha is responsible for blockages of minor body channels, known as Srotas. Whenever we eat food, it is digested and then divided into two parts Sara Bhag (Nutritive component) and Kitta Bhag (waste products). Sara Bhag forms Ras dhatu, which meets up the body’s nutritive requirements by converting into other dhatus like Rakta dhatu onwards and Kitta Bhag eliminated from body with the help of Apana Vayu.
Chronic kidney disease is the collaborative progression of Rasavaha, Raktavaha, Mamsavaha, Medovaha Srotas dushti which reflects through Mutravaha Srotas including Oja dushti. So there is need of understanding it through Ayurveda. In this article we have discussed the concept of Rakta dushti and its significance in Vrikka Vikara w.s.r. CKD.
