Abstract :
In a world where individuals want to be seen, heard, and acknowledged, they spend many days, months, or years altering or reconstructing themselves to conform to societal expectations. In the quest for validation, they push themselves too hard, so they do not notice that they have lost themselves in the process of making someone happy. Then it all shatters because that person was not even noticing it is when they get hurt, and they try to fix it, but it is too late, things that are done cannot be undone. This paper explores Franz Kafka’s most-read work, The Metamorphosis, which shows the state of its protagonist, who is distressed by the way his family and society perceive him. The study focuses on how symbolism and alienation have been depicted in his work to portray the worst condition of human beings.
