Role of Jal neti and Kapalbhati in Allergic Rhinitis: A Single Case Study

Abstract :
Allergic Rhinitis is a recurrently occurring respiratory disorder, associated with a group of symptoms affecting the nose. When a person with allergic rhinitis breathes in an allergen such as pollen, animal dander, mold, or dust, the body releases chemicals that cause allergic symptoms like four major symptoms-rhinorrhea, sneezing, nasal itching and nasal congestion. Allergic Rhinitis and showing a way out to the individual suffering from chronic disease Now-a-days, it is a common inflammation in the population later its develops to asthma. In the present study both cleansing procedure “Jalaneti '' and Kapalbhati are selected, which is an integral part of Shatkarmas the six cleansing techniques that form the most important aspect of hatha yoga. The study confirmed the effect of Jalaneti and Kapalbhati in Allergic Rhinitis in improving the quality of life of patients without any untoward effects. Jal Neti play an important role in the drainage of the collection present in the maxillary sinus. Lukewarm water leads to vasodilation, increased phagocytosis and Nacl helps in the conversion of thick secretion into thin secretion. It is all about nasal hygiene just like brushing teeth is about dental hygiene. The aim of JAL NETI is to purify and clean the nasal path right from the nostril to the throat using water. A regular practice of Jalaneti and Kapalbhati provides the relaxation and sound sleep and works as healing therapy for AR. This case report describes the effect of Neti Kriya on a single patient of Chronic Rhinitis, with the help of subjective and objective parameters. This case report showed that the regular practice of Neti Kriya could be effective in treating chronic AR.
