Abstract :
Childhood trauma is a pervasive issue that significantly impacts an individual's psychological, emotional, and physical well-being. Childhood trauma is often described as serious adverse childhood experiences. Children may go through a range of experiences that classify as psychological trauma; these might include neglect, abandonment, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and physical abuse, witnessing abuse of a sibling or parent, or having a mentally ill parent. This paper explores the various dimensions of childhood trauma, focusing on its profound effects on adulthood. By reviewing literature from psychology, sociology, and literary studies, this research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how early traumatic experiences shape adult behaviour, relationships, and overall mental health.
