Electron Impact N Subshells Ionization Cross Sections of 104Rf to 108Hs Near the N subshells Thresholds by Lotz’s Equation

Author : Mahmut Aydinol

Abstract :

NonrelativisticN shell (σnrelN) and σnrelNi (i =1,.,7) subshells ionization cross sections by electron impact on 104Rf 105Db, 106Sg, 107Bh, 108Hs atoms calculated. By using Lotz' equation in Matlab, (σnrelN) and N σnrelNi cross section values obtained for 24 electron impact(E0) values in the range of ENi<E0≤7ENi for each atom. Starting from E0=ENi(subshell ionization threshold energies), σnrelN and σnrelN are increasing rapidly with E0. For a fixed E0 = 3,4keV, while Z value increases from 104Rf ≤ Z ≤ 108Hs atoms; σrelN and σrelNi decrease. Results show that for smaller values of E0(close to ENi), x-ray yields formation of Ni (i =,1,…,7) subshells decreases while competing other yields are increase. Results may help to understand similar findings which obtained from other electron impact excitation of N σnrel N, subshells σnrelNi studies for single atoms.
