Abstract :
The monstrous can have manifold implications in a fantastic narrative. In Tasha Suri’s works Empire of Sand and Realm of Ash, the monstrous is something which surpasses the limits of the human, which necessitates transformation for survival and something that leeches off the divine source of power and life. Dreams and memories play crucial roles in the empowerment of the prominent characters. Significantly, they also function as battlefields where the human and monstrous wills clash with each other to wrest control of the functioning of the universe. The paper aims to explore the impact of the unknown on the individual being and the associated implications of the same.
