Abstract :
Background: Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) infections, presenting as fluid-filled skin lesions, are commonly treated with antiviral drugs but lack a permanent cure. In Ayurveda, HSV is correlated with Visarpa, an inflammatory skin condition characterized by redness, pain, and swelling. This case report discusses the Ayurvedic management of a 62-year-old male patient with Visarpa.
Case Presentation: A 62-year-old male from New Delhi presented in the OPD with painful, fluid-filled eruptions on his thighs and legs, accompanied by severe itching, burning, fever, and shooting pain while urinating. The patient was diagnosed with Visarpa and treated with Ayurvedic formulations to balance Pitta dosha and promote healing.

ii). Sootshekhar Ras
iii). Kamdudha Ras Mukta Yukta with Madhuyashti and Nimbadi Churna
iv). Panchtikta Ghrita
v). Gokshuradi Kwath
vi). Jatyadi Ghrita (topical application)
These formulations aimed to reduce inflammation, detoxify the body, and support tissue healing.
Results: After 15 days, the patient showed 40-50% improvement. By Day 30, the lesions healed, leaving only residual pigmentation. No further symptoms were reported.
Conclusion: This case highlights the effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatments in managing Visarpa (HSV), promoting symptom relief and accelerating recovery through Pitta-reducing and detoxifying therapies.
