Abstract :
Rapid population growth and development in Indonesia have driven extensive land conversion, causing severe environmental degradation, deforestation, and annual economic losses of IDR 30 trillion. Despite these challenges, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) offer the potential for environmental preservation and education. By integrating environmental education into policies, curricula, and nature contemplation activities, pesantren can instil early environmental awareness and contribute to sustainable development. This research focuses on implementing Eco-Pesantren policies, identifying curriculum impact, and exploring nature contemplation efforts to enhance competitiveness. The study provides theoretical contributions and practical guidance for scholars, teachers, and management, emphasizing environmental management, nature conservation, and fostering awareness. Using a qualitative approach, the research reveals key propositions: the influence of Kiai's policy communication on competitiveness, the positive impact of environmentally focused curricula on students, and the role of nature contemplation in fostering ecological awareness and social responsibility. These findings support the competitiveness of Islamic Boarding Schools in educating environmentally conscious generations.
