Relationship between Education and Age at Marriage Regarding Fertility Behaviour among Muslim Women

Abstract :
In India, fertility is still high than the replacement levels according to the study released by NFHS. Fertility is one of the most foremost determinants of population changes because it’s determined the size and structure of the population of a country. This paper examines the association between education, age at marriage and fertility behaviour among Muslim women of Meerut City, District U.P. Data have been collected with the help of interview schedule guide and observation techniques using purposive sampling from the 200 urban married Muslim women to the age group of 19-49. The estimated results showed that the educational status of the women were observed very low, one fifth per cent of the women were found illiterate, only fifteen per cent of the women were found up to 12thclass. Half portion of the respondents get married at the early age group (15-20) at the early age group while educated women like to get marry at the age of 26-30. So, in the conclusion it can be said that there is a deep relationship between education, age at marriage and fertility behaviour. It is clear here that education help in enhancing age at marriage among Muslim women.
