The Culture of the Self-Financed Teacher-Training Colleges in the Murshidabad District

Abstract :

The caliber of the teachers determines the standard of education in a country. In the process of teaching and learning, teachers are crucial. They build the character of the students through their supreme guidance and supervision. The concept of teacher education has undergone revolutionary change in the post-independence period. It is no longer confined to the training of the teachers only but also aims at developing the attitudes, skills, and personality of the teachers of tomorrow to become better teacher. Teacher education institutional climate plays an important role in producing effective teachers because this is the climate in which pupil-teachers undergo teacher training programme. The teacher training institutional climate consists of five components. These are Principal, Teachers, Students, Administration, and Infra-structure. The quality of the institutional climate depends on the sincerity, commitment, and dedication of principal, teachers, students and administration. A large number of studies have so far been conducted on teachers education but a very few on Institutional Climate. Besides these the number of self-financed teacher training colleges is increasing day by day. Therefore, it was decided to investigate the quality of institutional climate of self-financed teacher training institutions of Murshidabad District.
